methotroxate Options

i am on 20mg methotroxate, but have recentley developed a nasty itchy rash, has anyone else come across this?

You must contact your GP or Rheumy Team as the Methotrexate is obviously causing some sort of allergic reaction which should not be left. They may need to reduce the amount your are taking for a while to get the reaction under control or even stop you for a while. It is important you get this checked.

Thanks for advice, i just feel like a pain in the arse. Both lots of drugs i have tried have given me really nasty side effects, i don't like to trouble my gp or consultant, but methotroxate is driving me mad. Gratefull for any more advice.

Hi Sally
Please never feel as though you are a pain to your GP or consultant. The drugs we take for RA are serious stuff and it is so important that you let them know of any problems. Since diagnosis my relationship with the medical profession has altered not only do I feel as though I should have a loyalty card for regular attendance for blood tests etc I look upon them as being equally as eager to resolve any issues as I am.

Well said - same here. And the patient info leaflet for MTX makes it clear that side effects should be reported so you you should never fell guilty
